A wolf pup and a lost lion cub are rescued by a girl in the heart of the Canadian wilderness. Their friendship will change their lives forever.

If you saw Mia and the White Lion, you probably have some expectations of this one. However, for me personally, it was a disappointment. The movie was, unfortunately, very predictable. When the little cub fell straight into the arms of his future human babysitter (who, by pure chance, stands in the exact spot under that exact tree) I exchanged with my fellow watchers an eloquent horrified look. You will find a lot of fairy tale moments like this in the movie.
On the other hand, I have to highlight shooting without digital tricks, with real animals. The footage of this unprecedented friendship is truly breathtaking. The end of the movie caused me to admit with narrowed (and teary) eyes that it had its charm (only the end!). Except … this conclusion is only apparent and the story ends in another childishly naive way.
Personally, instead of The Wolf & The Lion, I would watch videos of unusual animal friendships on YouTube. The adult viewer will probably not be thrilled by this movie. If we are talking about what to let young children, however, then this is a great choice.
